BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2006--
Indexes track financial performance of sustainability-driven
companies
State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), the world's leading provider
of financial services to institutional investors, announced today that
it has qualified for both the World and North America Dow Jones
Sustainability Indexes (DJSI).
Launched in 1999, the DJSI track the financial performance of the
leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide and provide asset
managers with reliable, objective benchmarks to manage sustainability
portfolios. Its results influence the investment decisions of asset
managers in 14 countries who have licensed the DJSI family as
benchmarks for a variety of sustainability-driven portfolios.
The annual review of the DJSI is based on an assessment of
corporate economic, environmental and social performance. State
Street's enhanced environmental management and corporate governance
policies, in addition to its strong citizenship and philanthropy
programs, were among the reasons for its inclusion on the DJSI
indexes.
"We're pleased to be listed on two of the Dow Jones Sustainability
Indexes," said Ronald E. Logue, chairman and chief executive officer
of State Street. "Experts agree that sustainability is a key attribute
to a company's overall success and we are proud to be recognized for
our excellence across a broad range of factors."
