BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), one of the world's leading
providers of financial services to institutional investors, announced
today the appointment of Valerie Haertel as senior vice president of
Investor Relations with responsibility for managing relationships with
the company’s shareholders and analysts. Valerie replaces Kelley
MacDonald who is retiring from State Street after leading the function
for more than a decade.

A 20-year Investor Relations veteran, Haertel most recently held the
position of vice president of Investor Relations for more than five
years at Medco Health Solutions, Inc. Prior to Medco, she held various
senior-level investor relations and management positions at Alliance
Bernstein, RCN Corporation and NASDAQ. She has received numerous awards
from Institutional Investor magazine, IR Magazine and
Greenwich Associates for her top-ranked Investor Relations programs.
Haertel will work closely with Kelley MacDonald, who will remain the
primary contact for investors and analysts through the third quarter, in
order to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

Haertel is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI),
the NIRI Speakers Bureau and the NIRI Senior Roundtable. She also
previously served as Chapter President of NIRI-NY in 2004-2005, and
served on the NIRI NY Chapter Board for six years through 2006. She is a
member of the Investor Relations Association and served as an executive
officer for four years. Haertel graduated from St. John’s University
with a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master of Business
Administration.
